Workplace Rules/Policies:

  • Cell Phone Usage
    • Phones should be in your pocket(s) or on the white snack table at all times unless you’re researching something for a student’s homework or checking to make sure an answer is correct.
    • Also, a student should never be in possession nor looking at your personal cell phone for no longer then a minute outside during recess as your attention should be on the children.
  • Snack/Water Refurbished
    • All water bottles should be labeled with tape/marker going forward with each student’s name. This keeps us from wasting water.
    • Keep the fridge and blue water container stocked at all times and before you clock out for the evening.
  • Dress Code – Pants , shorts, sweatpants of any kind should not be excessively baggy and/or sagging that they are hanging below your waist. Slides are not allowed yet you may wear Crocs or any other nice pair of tennis shoe.
  • Communication – No slang should be used with or around the students. For example, I get the 6 ‘ 7’ term the kids use, which is funny and it’s good to have laughter. But, use wisdom when playing with them like that. Keep it short and make sure they are focused on there work/activities!  We are training them for their future and all of our examples of how we speak, our discipline, movements, and the words we use matter daily.
  • Schedule – Please continue communicating your schedule with me as soon as you receive any/all updates. It’s been much better the past 2 weeks.
  • Call-Out Substitutes
    • When calling out on your scheduled day, they should be done by noon the day of or the day before if you’re feeling sick and so forth. There have been too many occasions where no youth assistant covers for another. #Teamwork
    • I will be hiring 1-2 more youth/young adults to make sure #1 above is addressed effectively and that we have coverage when we go to two youth assistants per day.
  • Recess/Safety – There’s been quite a few falls and accidents this year vs. years past.
    • Before going outside, let’s all make sure our student’s shoes are tied and/or double tied if necessary. Many of the past falls may have been contributed to untied shoes.
    • If you cannot play with ALL the students at once with your eyes on them, you should not. All students should be monitored at all times. Take a chair out and sit to swivel and monitor them as well.
    • Please keep a closer watch on the K-1st graders and I’ve seen them away from you all at times on the side by BK.
