Sharing about an important part of what @legacydri Sharing about an important part of what @legacydrivenyouth is about and comes from! I'm asked at times in our mentoring sessions who are some folks that changed my life in those early years thru high school. When Trox bought those 2 Technics turntables, Numark mixer and 2 loud speakers in 8th grade, little did I know that his purchases would keep me more focused in school, gave me purpose, ear for musicianship and how to hear/see angles early. All those years he and I spent in his basement making mixtapes, learning how to do that transformer scratch 🤣, host house parties at his mother's home over the weekends..all that gave me a sense of purpose! It kept a little black boy out of trouble and gave me something creative to do. There's was no idle time after school. Trox would end up being the big brother that I never had. He just didn't know the impact he was making in my life. Hours upon hours were spent on those turntables. Trox, man thank you for believing in that young boy because, the ear for beats, listening to NWA, LL COOL J, TRIBE CALLED QUEST, BLACKSHEEP, SALT N PEPA, WHODINI, KOOL G RAP, SLICK RICK, BDP, PUBLIC ENEMY, BIGGIE, MC SHAN, JUNGLE BROTHERS, QUEEN LATIFAH, MC LYTE, BIZ MARKIE, TWO LIVE CREW, JJ FAD, MONIE LOVE, UTFO, REDMAN, EPMD, ROXANNE SHANTE, KING T AND MORE....it gave me an activist attitude about life. Speak life to your community. It crafted me into a REBEL WITHOUT A PAUSE. Now, K dot (Kendrick Lamar) is always on repeat...Sing About Me, Dying of Thirst and FEEL songs..whew! Idle time when young isn't a positive, especially for youth. Being creative outside/away from parents proves to be beneficial later in life. So, keep young boys and girls engaged no matter the age!💪🏾💯 I appreciate all you did for me, my guy. Your life is a residual of Legacy Driven Foundation Inc and the youth we serve. Your sacrifices for all those records we bought and the time you gave me in your basement are a strong part of my life. So, I salute and honor my guy. You are Legacy Driven in my eyes. We just love our STEAM K-8 after-school partnershi We just love our STEAM K-8 after-school partnership with @impactsteamacademy. It truly blesses us to know our environment produces and gives our students focused learning, lots of laughter, collaborations, structure, critical thinking, discipline, and faith, along with helping them build other great character traits. Ok, so our founder, Mr. Leath seems to always get the girls at his table for homework time. Omg!😁 But he loves it all. As a father of two young ladies, he wouldn't have it any other way.
